I've jus started reading tis book today afternoon and it's been intellectually and spiritually satifying.Initially,i intended to read tis book to find out the answers to a bugging question tat's been in my mind for a long time.Ever since i've been a rededicated christian since 2004,creation of the world have been in mind.Why so?That's because the universe,earth and all living organisms on it were created in 6 days jus the bible says.But findings from astronomers thought so otherwise;it was found that the earth is billions of years old,which means that it was likely to be created billions of years ago.This contradiction in duration has increasingly become a question i can't affort to ignore coz it's beginning to challenge my faith in the truth of God's word in the face of scientific evidence.In my early believer days,am aware of this contradiction but nv questioned it until nw.i tink it's onli nw tat i've become more aware of e implication of tis.Well,i still haven had e answer to tis question yet coz i've only started readin today.But however this book provided tremendous insight into understanding intelligent design and evolution.
I remember there was one time i had to present intelligent design and evolution back in the SP core team discussion.Haha,i won't say hw it went(coz it went disastrously).But the preparation for the presentation introduced this concept of intelligent design to me.Basically,it's a idea which suggests that everything frm the universe to RNA's are created by an intelligent being.During my year 3,sem 1 life science elective module,i rmember that my lecturer taught bout the how histomers packages the DNA into smaller size.I was fascinated by how a DNA of usually 1.5m stretched in full length was packaged into uber small size by rolling histomers around it.It's not jus merely rolling e DNA and make it small,the number of DNA bases around the histomers and the length of DNA strand connecting histomers is precise.It truly brought to me a verse in psalms 139:14
I praise you because i am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Your works are wonderful,i know that full well.
Yes,we were created so wonderfully and fearfully by a loving God who created the stars,sun,quasar and diverse myriad of living organism out of his overwhelming love for us,nt by random chances.Truly,all these were created so that it would point out to God's glory and majesty that's displayed in his creation.It reminds me of who he is and who i am.Because of his hands that ushered in creation with purpose in mind,no human is born with a purposeless life(if any darwin supporters says otherwise,be sure tat i'll b fired up over tis!!) because without God's hand in creation,we'll nt b here in the 1st place.After all,the odds of having the right number of proteins molecule and right sequence of biological process happening at the right time and desirable physical condition is staggering,close to zero chance of happening.By the same God,Jesus was sent to the earth to die for our sins,only to b raised on the third day.And today,here i am as a child of God coz of his deeds done on the cross,out of love for u n me.
That life science module really changed my views on science and maths.Last time,i was merely studying and learning concepts and theory without appreciating it,linking it to God and how to make human life better.But nw,i've finally appreciated it,understand it,link it to God's honour and glory and think of its implication for making better human life.Yeah...it's no longer that boring anymore.It influenced my decision to pursue chemistry,instead of chemical eng in local U coz am nt tat concerned bout making loads of cash as an engineer but to pursue my interest in chemistry n be a research medicinal chemist(tat means i hav to get Permanently Head Damaged,PhD in short...haha).So that i'll b able to produce medicine to cure disease,at e same time make discovery tat will attribute all glory and honour to him :-)
I find it gd book that's worth more than a try,so u gotta read it if u wanna untd more about God's creation n nt b daunted by scientific terms :-)
